    A Letter from The President

Welcome to the Home of Celtic Hearts Romance Writers!

However you found us, you've stumbled upon or been led to one of the best kept secrets in the world. We are an international special interest group of the Romance Writers of America. Our chapter has the distinction of being run completely online, which provides us the opportunity to cater to romance writers all over the world. We exist primarily to develop and support writers who have interest in Celtic topics, in every subgenre of romance that exists.

We provide a variety of services to our members, from critique groups to a supportive chat loop. We have quarterly chats with NYT Best-selling authors; we have invested PAN and PRO members within our groups, including multi-published, award-winning authors and brand new authors who haven't even finished a manuscript yet; we run an active campus that focuses on both Celtic research courses and writing craft courses; we have two annual writing contests that focus on publishing both novel-length and novella-length fiction. Whatever your interest in writing, whether finding a supportive community or a place to develop your craft, this is the place.

Our chapter is a place to connect with other Celtophiles, but also a place to belong. While we offer many services, our top priority is the care and support of our members. We love to provide research resources or have discussions about the rooms in a medieval Scottish castle, but we also celebrate sales and lament bad reviews, share in the joy of new births (of novels, and of babies) and provide support during the difficult times of life. We look forward to having you join us, wherever you are in your writing journey.

Please join us today. Exercise your inner Celt and become one of our Clan. Celtic Hearts Romance Writers is where love and legends meet, and we look forward to meeting you.

    Cheers,
Rebecca Lynn - President, Celtic Hearts Romance Writers

    Coming January, 2012! January 2012 (4 weeks January 3rd thru 31st)

    Class #1: Killer Openings

    Instructor: Alexa Bourne

Many people browse through a bookstore, pull a book off the shelf and read the first page. They decide right then whether or not they'll buy the book. Killer Openings dissects those all-important elements. Students will learn the importance of a good opening and gain a better understanding of what makes a "killer opening." Students will study examples of good and bad openings and discuss why they do or don't work. Students will also submit their own opening lines/paragraphs/pages and receive a critique.

    Instructor Bio:

Alexa Bourne is a teacher by day and a romantic suspense writer by nights, weekends and all school holidays. When not traveling around the world or crafting thrilling romantic suspense stories, she spends her time reading, watching brainless TV and thinking about exercising. She has a Bachelor's in English Literature and a Master's in Education. She has finaled in or won 21 RWA contests with 7 manuscripts. (Most of those contests focused on the 1st few pages or the 1st chapter.) To learn more about her, visit www.alexabourne.com ....(more)
